New dentists want their own practices now. To find practices for sale, they call Phase II. Buyers are more prevalent than sellers in our Practices Database.
Buyers come to us as recent graduates from residency programs and dental schools. They’re doctors with experience in a Dental Service Organization (DSO) or military assignment who are ready to go down an ownership path.
Many of our recent grads are qualified buyers who worked down their student debt, and are ready to go. From a technical standpoint, they’ve had a lot of experience in a practice presenting treatment plans, working with finances, and working with other staff members. They’re ready to own a practice.
What’s keeping them from moving ahead with their dreams? Not enough dentists who are ready to sell!
Too many doctors are waiting to create or execute an exit plan. Instead, they just gradually slow their practice down. As life chapters change, maybe staff members move on. Or maybe they just get tired and want to “semi-retire,” but they’re still working.
Instead of doing a semi-retirement though, it would be better for them financially if they sold their practice–perhaps even becoming an employee of the practice to continue working at whatever pace they enjoy. Buyers are able to maximize the opportunity of practice ownership and sellers exit at the top of their performance.
